OUR FIRST FIELD TRIP!

I had to make sure our reservations were confirmed before making this announcment but it is now official. For our first field trip, we climb aboard the crime bus:

THE REAL BLACK DAHLIA TOUR: Saturday 1/13, 11 am-4pm, as the 60th anniversary of Elizabeth Short's murder comes 'round, we lead an exhaustive tour through the city and the myths and realities of this iconic Hollywood crime, including visits to the site where her severed body was discovered and the nearby home of a little-known and very likely suspect. Conducted by the 1947 Project.

For much more info, go to Black Dahlia Tour

LA has certain "defining decades" which impact the city's character far past the actual moment in time. The 40s is one of those; that's why Sunset Boulevard (1950) never seems dated. I want to give you a taste of this aspect of LA apart from simply watching a noir film, so I think actually canvassing the ground might be an informative approach. It's also interesting how a single murder can become a cottage industry.

Make sure to keep January 13th open -- we'll probably either go to lunch before, or dinner after. And for those of you who haven't selected a book yet, get going! I want a bus full of Black Dahlia experts.
