Genre matters. It especially matters to students in the Duke in Los Angeles program where we study all things genre, whether in film, television, music, gaming, or comics. Los Angeles also matters, and this site should also share helpful information about what to do while staying in Los Angeles.

Internships
It's a new year and for those of you who have not posted anything on the blackboard internship class message board about your internship progress, please do so now. Even if you've e-mailed me separately, I need that posting on the blackboard. More importantly, I want to know how the internship search is coming (or has ended) for each of you. By our meeting on Sunday, I want everyone to have some idea/strategy for a full push the following week if they have not secured a position.

I have positions secured with the Weinstein Company's LA office and also with the rock band Pennywise, but am trying for a few other options since I interned with them this fall in New York as well and would like to see how a different company works if possible. I have interviews for Samuel L. Jackson's new production company, with Ron Howard, with the Zucker brothers and with Dreamworks Animation not long after I get to LA, so hopefully one of those will pan out. At worst though I am still going to be fine. Just hoping to be MORE fine.
