Genre matters. It especially matters to students in the Duke in Los Angeles program where we study all things genre, whether in film, television, music, gaming, or comics. Los Angeles also matters, and this site should also share helpful information about what to do while staying in Los Angeles.

Movie Info - the Final Conflict
That just leaves us Stephen Frears, the director of The Queen.
He really made his name with a trio of brilliant Thatcher era British films -- Sammie and Rosie get Laid (1987), My Beautiful Laundrette (1985)and Prick up your Ears (1987)
His American work has been less consistent, but sometimes brilliant. I'd say his masterpiece is the best, so far, adaptation of a jim thompson (the other one) novel -- The Grifters , but I also like his other Cusack film High Fidelity. Both of those films stand out as being excellent adaptations of novels.
