As for what happens when (if?) we reach ten, I don't see how we can go from the nine plagues to the ten commandments -- that's just too much of a go_d thing. How about The Ten Little Native Americans as our final goal?

Genre matters. It especially matters to students in the Duke in Los Angeles program where we study all things genre, whether in film, television, music, gaming, or comics. Los Angeles also matters, and this site should also share helpful information about what to do while staying in Los Angeles.

There were ten plagues!
Thank God- I didn't want to be little Indians.
You know...there were nine members of the Fellowship of the Ring!!!!!!!!!!
!!!
(and 9 Nazgul)
I can officially support no other 9 number.
But just in case anyone was wondering:
The Nine Worthies were nine historical figures meant to be the embodiment of the ideal of chivalry. They were first written of in the early fourteenth century, by Jacques de Longuyon in his Voeux du Paon.
The Worthies were:
* From Pagan times:
o Hector
o Alexander the Great
o Julius Caesar
* From the Old Testament period:
o Joshua
o David
o Judas Maccabaeus
* From Christian times:
o King Arthur
o Charlemagne
o Godfrey of Bouillon
As a group, the nine represent all facets of the perfect warrior.
Yes, there were ten plagues -- but there were really nine + one, which is why there's so many references to the nine plagues.
Plus, I've already set up my frog picture.
But if four people say no to plagues, and yes to the fellowship, I'd go with it. -- obviously, I'd be Gandalf though. (and who would get to be Samwise, I wonder?)
Sam would be Samwise!!! Hahaha. Come on Jim, you can't resist Gandalf the White and plus then we can save our climax as the 10 plagues and then God won't be angry with us.
Just kidding about the above in case you couldn't tell from blogger.
That frog picture is the funniest thing I've ever seen in my entire life.
10 plagues indeed.
1. rivers and other water sources turned to blood
2. reptiles (commonly believed to be frogs)
3. lice
4. Either flies, wild animals or beetles
5. disease on livestock
6. unhealable boils
7. hail mixed with fire
8. locusts
9. darkness
10. death of the firstborn
I like the idea of The Nine Worthies. If we do go with that, I call Judas Maccabeus, one of the greatest warriors in Jewish history. Just like me.
Oh I see...I would like 9 and my picture will be a black square.

(10. Death of the firstborn)
Ok totally not cool, only one person can copy and paste from Wikipedia haha, you beat me by 3 seconds. Anyway, I leave it up to everyone else but if the Fellowship (which I highly support highly) I would choose Legolas clearly, and if the 9 worthies, I would choose either King Arthur (or Alexander the Great and replace his name with mine of course) and if the 9 +1 plagues then I would choose darkness since i'd prefer not to be pestilence or lice.
Actually, I beat you by 4 minutes. Maybe if you hadn't wasted all of that time capitalizing the first letters you would've won.
actually samwise, i beat you and then deleted the comment because i didn't want to sound smug after jim's post, which i didn't see when posting the original post...post. and besides, we both deleted the hebrew text and exodus numbers
I'm watching something on the grammys, I'll catch up at the commercials. I know how to use Wikipedia too.
Touche Janet (pronounced Jan-ey). Touche.
i meant smug in a pseudo intellectual way, where you think you're right but you're actually not, thus the deletion to spare myself the embarassment of not knowing that the 10th plague is considered an add on. it's all wikipedia's fault.
Okay, just to offer a different direction, did y'all know there are none different words for snow in Eskimo? Dibs on peqalujaq (old ice)
We absolutely have to be The Nine Worthies. Check out my new picture. It's Judah Maccabee!
oh man! that's totally what i would have gone for. ok, fine i call nilak!
so in case anyone was wondering, I would be the Ninth Circle in hell so i could talk with the classical and Biblical figures or i suppose the 7th so I see the centaurs trotting around
Which circle is John Wayne in? I'd definitely be that one.
John Wayne is not in Hell, but if he was, I'd own it!
I'd like to believe John Wayne would be in the Sixth Sphere of heaven...but Jim's going to argue with that
You're right. John Wayne is probably up in heaven having tea with Ghandi and Martin Luther King Jr. right now...of course he's in hell! Badasses don't go to heaven.
Or the Third Sphere, and of course this motivation was propelled by my presence in his subconscious.
In Janet's: The Conflagration or i suppose it would be utopidiso, John Wayne would be in the 1st sphere of heaven. just him. and anyone who supports the fellowship.
Okay, Sam's got a point about Wayne and heaven, at least as represented by George Bernard Shaw in Man and Superman (the third act, which is Don Juan in Hell -- which is really good)But as a lawyer, don't I have a reservation in either level 4 or 5?
Sure y'all don't want to be words meaning ice?
If we go with Eskimo words for ice, Sam could get first call for qanik (falling snow)
I didn't want to have to resort to this but voila!

King Nilaklegolasarthur of Darkness
and just curious, why would you be in the 5th?
The river Styx runs through the 5th level of Hell, and in it are punished the wrathful and the gloomy. The former are forever lashing out at each other in anger, furious and naked, tearing each other piecemeal with their teeth. (That's me and the rest of the Family Law Bar -- except for the naked part) The latter are gurgling in the black mud, slothful and sullen, withdrawn from the world.(
That would be the clients)
And it just occurred to me -- why did you only ask about level 5? Did me in level 4 not need clarification?
As hilarious as it would be to say that I interpreted and accepted your 4th level inclusion, I actually thought you were talking about the heavenly circles, in which case I thought 4th was appropriate for the souls of the wise but was confused about the Christianity element of the 5th.
hehe that was funny, i should have just left the conversation on your question
In honor of my new profile picture I propose the nine films of Jim Jarmusch:
1. Stranger Than Paradise
2. Down By Law
3. Mystery Train
4. Night on Earth
5. Dead Man
6. Year of the Horse
7. Ghost Dog
8. Coffee and Cigarettes
9. Broken Flowers
Dear God I think we've evolved! Curse you Hankla's non-playing-screen engulfing-youtube video!
Okay, I don't know how this got past me -- for our brief phase before becoming the completed ten, I don't see how we can be anything but Plan 9 from outer space.
Please put the frog back
Okay, but that means we're back to the nine plagues.
