Genre matters. It especially matters to
students in the Duke in Los Angeles program where we study all things genre, whether
in film, television, music, gaming, or comics. Los Angeles also matters, and this site should also share helpful information about what to do while staying in Los Angeles.

there is this weird interlude of the actual movie in the middle of the song, but thankfully that ends soon (terrible movie) and it gets back to the song. Omkaara was done in a very old hindi vernacular such that even native speakers of today's generation found it difficult to understand without subtitles. the word "beedi" is common slang for cigarette in Hindi, translated as "fag" in the subtitles (British influence). The subtitles are kind of lame, as to be expected, but they give you a pretty good idea of the general ridiculous nature surrounding the song.
It actually is a great movie receiving a lot of critical acclaim, including a prize at Cannes. It is a beautifully done interpretation of Othello, one of the best that I have seen, definitely better than most of the Hollywood ones, and (Saif)'Ishwar' Langda Tyagi as Iago is simply brilliant. However, don't bother if you need the subtitles; the rustic language is essential to the plot...
