Okay we now have a genre bad ass panel, made up of "Xena" Meron, "Death Wish" Sam and most likely "biker" Dave.
Our music panel is punked Alicia, funked Keith and glammed Janet (she's changed her topic)
Our panel by default panel is now Aaina, Ben and Noel. This could be a panel on the star system possibly -- that was one idea that Aaina and I discussed. Ben's paper is certainly star focused, and Noel's paper on black buddy films may well end up being primarily about its black stars, Hollywood's treatment of same, etc. These may actually work nicely together. However, even if Aaina decides to not go toward the star system in India, I'll just think of some other conceptual link.

In looking at the panel breakdowns, I think it's a nice balance. I'm glad Janet's fantasy defection allowed me another option besides the masculinity panel, which has been done previously. It also gave me a solid music focused panel, which I really wanted.
Punked, funked, and glammed- that's cute Jim.
I know my initial idea was too big, so what about this one: American Badass - the Western influence in action movies. Could work. Can tie it into Lethal Weapon, Die Hard, Fight Club, Terminator II, Shooter, etc. etc.
