Conan the disappointedly directed Barbarian movie

It was announced at the ATM that Brett Ratner has committed to direct the new Conan the Barbarian movie. The tragic news is here.

Crom help us!

At least we have Frazetta's book covers.
At least we have Barry's Smith brief 70's run on the comic.

And most importantly, we have the great Robert E. Howard's actual books.
The film may be disappointing (or not -- Rattner is not without talent -- but I don't think this is a good match) , but anyone even slightly interested in Conan or his creator might want to rent The Whole Wide World (1996) which is about Howard, as played by Vincent D'Onofrio and the process of pulp writing.
