Iron man 3 review: Robert Downey Jr. Goes on Auto pilot
LA weekly described Iron man 3 as “too much plot, too much
action, too many characters, too many pseudo feelings”
Yes, Iron man 3 has too many of these too manys. However,
these complex plots, subplots, characters and actions are almost the identities
of recent blockbuster films, and so far Iron Man 3 is achieving what it attended
to achieving, a huge box office return.
Blockbuster films without complex story structure, hardly
maintain its blockbuster goal. Die hard 5, a good way to die is a prefect
example of intended blockbuster film with simple story line. As it was simple,
audience are simply not buying it. It seemed audiences are too intelligent to
watch simple story nowadays.
However, the problem might be the confusing villains. In the
first act, Mandarin is the villain and suddenly Mandarin turns to be an actor
that covers up another villain, Killian. Whose motivation is unclear, and he
doesn’t have any charm as a strong villain, except his physical power. It would
be so much compelling it the Villain not only has superior physical power, but
also plays mind games.
